@dbs @fontana, I disagree w/ "icecreaming" thing! Only reason the phrase is good is it admits that products early in lifecycle are horrible.

@fontana Allegedly it was Paul Maritz (when at Microsoft)
-
@fontana,before #Google co-option, I liked phrase "eat own dog food". It always reminded me of this essay, which I like: http://ur1.ca/330zh
-
@fontana Looks like "eating our own dogfood" was used by Microsoft (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dogfooding) in 1988 - verification needed.
-
@fontana,I never liked the #Honeymooners. Even as a kid,I found something wrong w/ a comedy w/ a tag line that threatens domestic violence.
-
@fontana About ten years too early for that email to have been turned over to the court in the Sun-Microsoft Java lawsuit, alas.
-
@bkuhn Google co-oped "eat your own dog food"?
-
@fontana of course I have to add http://www.joelonsoftware.com/articles/fog0000000012.html ... just great reading.
-
@fontana: I remember someone on a cast saying, they prefer the phrase "drink their own champagne' Funny I don't really like champagne!
-
@bkuhn "dogfooding" falls apart too. eventually you want the product to be something you enjoy consuming. never true for dog food.
-
@copiesofcopies, that's why I always think of that Ann Hodgman essay. Her point subtly suggests maybe we should make dog food more palatable
-
@copiesofcopies,software never reaches "enjoyable",that's a fallacy;Even my beloved !Emacs, after 20 yrs, still tastes like dogfood sometimes
-
@bkuhn I disagree, but I also think it should be a developer's goal to produce something more enjoyable than dog food.
-
@copiesofcopies have you seen some of the ingredients in dog food. They eat better than I do! #currentlyonmywaytoinandoutburger
