@jargon Yes and Qt is a) still being funded by Nokia and b) is not that tied to Nokia as you seem to think
-
@jargon one word: #libreoffice ;)
-
@jargon Orcale hasn't axed mysql (or OOo), have they? They've just screwed up with the community big time.
-
@jargon They still plan to ship a few hundred million Symbian devices running !qt, and they have tons of customers prolly with contracts.
-
@jargon Yes. Because users and developers have switched to the free fork. Bad for Oracle, good for users. Same with !Qt, in the worst case.
-
@jargon And if Nokia should decide to kill their community, I'll won't pity them a bit for dying a horrible slow death. Freedom wins.
-
@jargon For a nice example, look at OOo and LibreOffice. The latter is thriving on contributions now, much more so than OOo ever used to.
-
@jargon Given the choice between "fork !qt" and "let !kde die", I think the answer is pretty clear. Let's hope this won't be needed though.

@bigbrovar switching to another environment soon? if so, a fresh deb install!

@jargon sorry, I was in a hurry/lazy. I have kde and might need to see what compositing tricks xfce has
-
@jargon We can make another fork like LibreOffice
