Watching world cup highlights. Canada have a cricket team?! I didn't even know. Don't fancy their chances against Sri Lanka. #cricket

@methoddan Approximately the same odds as the Sri Lankan #hockey team would have against us, I'd say :-)

@methoddan I would have to admit not our best possible draw !

@vanden: Yes definitely, Sri Lanka wouldn't last 2 mins at hockey. I didn't even know cricket was played in Canada though at all though

@methoddan @vanden On the face of it, you wouldn't think Canada had the climate for it?

@silner @methoddan @vanden: For what? Cricket? Can't cricket be played in any weather?

@methoddan Large ex-pat population, of course. For several years India/Pakistan played in Toronto due to safety concerns and got huge crowds

@silner Well, it isn't tundra in all parts, nor for much more than a 1/3rd of the year where most of us live :-)

@gamerchick02: No, cricket is only played in sunny conditions. They don't play in rain etc, games are regularly cancelled.

@jpblogger: I never knew that, interesting fact

@methoddan It is mainly those of West Indian and sub-continent Indian origin who play, here. I've never met a single AngloSaxon player.

@vanden: That's not surprising. Cricket isn't even that popular in the UK. It's well behind football. Massive in Asia / Australia though

@methoddan: Oh, so it's like baseball. In that they cancel games due to rain or snow or asteroids. Thanks! :)

@methoddan: Didn't John Candy do a film in the 90's about a Canadian cricket team?

@methoddan I believe it was part of that 'Friendship' Cup' business.

@methoddan: Baseball doesn't go on as long as cricket. As far as I know, they haven't had a game go over days. ;)

@gamerchick02: well the day matches are much better as they aren't played for days. But both sports are boring to me though. :)

@methoddan: they should get other problem area's in the world out for a few games of cricket! perhaps people will be more tolerant then! ;)
