@fontana: OK, I bow to your greater insight. :-) I apologize for calling the relationship "control".

Don't worry, Red Hat are just "competing" - http://ur1.ca/3e33o Time to install Debian I think...
Ricardo Dias Marques likes this. -
@jargon: Yes that's a good point
-
@robmyers I think it's really stupid, too, as any competitor can be secretly a customer and get that info as well.
-
@fontana: Yes. It's a product of the same company.
-
@robmyers I don't like that decision either, but saying Fedora is "a product of Red Hat" is misleading and not really true, TBH.
-
@fontana: Fedora was created by, is paid for by (...is primarily sponsored by) and is controlled by RH. Fedora ∈ RH's products.
-
@robmyers How is Fedora "controlled" by Red Hat. Come on, that's BS. Gimme proof...
-
@fabsh: Fedora's website shows that RH are their major source of funds and board members. How long would Fedora last if they told RH to go?
-
@robmyers I don't agree to the "controlled by", there is lot of community decision also
-
@robmyers They are the main sponsor, yes. But that would be like saying TWiT belongs to Ford just because they sponsor it.
-
@robmyers And yes, I firmly believe Fedora would go on without RH. In what capacity, no one can tell. Compare Mageia.
-
@dmaphy: There is but it can be vetoed by the board chairman who is appointed by RH . Which is my point: RH control things.
-
@fabsh Don't forget the Fedora project existed before Red Hat handed over it's desktop business, although not in it's current form.
-
@gomerx Well, yeah, but that is beside the point IMO. It always existed *because of* Red Hat so far.
