@k4ph I did a period without X, and that one - fbgs, in particular - was useful for viewing LaTeX-generated docs.

@k4ph It doesn't take up much space. If you go no-X, you can run the OS on a minimal fraction of the needed space.

@k4ph What do you use it for? What kind of tools do you use?

@k4ph Didn't actually know Tudu. I used to use HNB, which is a good notebook, but I see the point of online. Used Calcurse, too.

@k4ph @mjjzf This conversation is making me want to ditch X... but I like graphical web browsing too much :/

@k4ph You're mixing things up now (cli and graphics). Try simple text files, they rock!

@k4ph I'm on Xmonad when I'm in X anyway, so it's almost the same thing...

@mjjzf Just looked up Tudu, and there is also a CLI app by the same name. Todo.sh is also a good bash script for todo lists

@mo6020 @k4ph I use Xfce, but mostly for the window decorations. Also, I like to have a graphical file manager.

@k4ph That came out wrong, I mean all my apps are cli in Xmonad except Chromium, so it's kinda the same thing...

@mo6020 @k4ph I always wondered why there aren't any Ncurses-based email clients with panes, like a cross between Mcabber and Claws.

@mo6020 No idea. I have been using Claws for ages, but it annoys me it only processes one process at a time, so it hangs occasionally.

@k4ph poppler package includes pdftotext utility: extracts text from pdf files into a .txt file, could that be of use to you?

@michaelsandahl I used Pine for a while, but there were things where Alpine seemed a bit more clever. Just need a bit of setup handholding!

@mjjzf I used it for quite awhile in a Screen session on Arch. I found a good tutorial online for setting it up, but it escapes me now. 1/2
