@gomerx Yes, a "testing" rolling release. This will be a more stable rolling release, from what I hear, which is something I'd like.

-
@lxnews Yes! So going to do that. No more bothering about with switching between testing, stable, testing, stable..blah blah blah
-
SWEET! ♺ @lxnews: Debian is Working on a Rolling Version of their Distro http://lxnews.org/2011/03/21/debian-working-on-rolling-version/
-
@gomerx Well, I suppose Sid counts as a rolling release... but this sounds like it will be more stable than Sid is.
-
@windigo I thought unstable was rolling.
-
@lxnews And it came from OHIO of all places...
-
@nuclearsandwich It is, but it's also unstable. I wouldn't run Sid on my machine if I needed a workable system.
-
@windigo that makes sense, though I don't see how Debian's process works for rolling. They audit upstream pretty heavily and seem to abhor..
-
@nailuj He he he, true - I'm just excited at the prospect of a rolling distro with Debian stability.
-
@windigo Me too! So going to switch when it comes.
-
@windigo .. vanilla packages. It seems like even the rolling release would be a few versions behind current.
-
@nuclearsandwich Yeah, I don't expect it to be terribly cutting-edge - after all, that IS the unstable branch.
-
@gomerx It's quite possible, there have been rumblings about a rolling Debian release before.
-
@windigo I found testing to be pretty stable, and it has its own security team as well.
-
@windigo don't get me wrong, I like Debian and I think they do great things for free software. I just prefer vanilla packages.
-
@gomerx testing gets security updates already, they introduced a security team a couple of years ago I think :)
-
@nuclearsandwich I'd say that's a completely valid viewpoint. :)
-
@windigo indeed, I blame my Slackware upbringing.
-
@gomerx This is more like rolling with speed bumps or one of those blinking on-ramp lights.
-
@gomerx And an aubergine theme? ;-)
