Organic farming versus conventional farming: http://bit.ly/fJhdrf
-
@appropedia I'm going to be mean to you. There is no such thing as #organic farming - use are using silicon aren't you?
-
@appropedia And of course you use water (H2O). Since neither Silicon nor Water contain carbon they aren't organic.
-
@appropedia You need to use Non-Aristotlean logic when choosing names for things.
-
@themadhatter and I assume most artificial pesticides and herbicides are "organic"from a chemist's point of view.
-
@appropedia Since a lot of pesticides and herbicides contain carbon, yes, they are organic. Only a lunatic would at them though.
-
@appropedia Oops - meant to say 'eat', not 'at', and by lunatic I had Ann 'bath in radiation' Coulter in mind.
-
@themadhatter Indeed - organic in the chemical sense, not in the "organic farming" sense :-).
-
@themadhatter I quite agree that #organic is a confusing label, I substitute #ecological given the chance. What's that about Aristotle?
-
@clacke Technically the expansion of the Sahara Desert is ecologically sound, so maybe you'd better rethink that.
-
@themadhatter It's better than #organic, but it's not perfect. If you have a better term, I'm all ears.
-
@themadhatter The central energy cycle is organic rather than silicon-based or something else. Other chemicals like water are peripheral.
-
@clacke The Chemical that makes up over 70% of the body mass is peripheral? That's a curious choice of words.
