I wonder when !librefm is going to get out of alpha
-
@avery I really don't understand why they're even bothering to keep the alpha label... it's more reliable and feature-filled than most ..
-
@avery .. betas.
-
@syntax My guess is that they're actually keeping to the strict original meanings of alpha/beta, rather than the more recent adaptation ..
-
@syntax .. of the term.
-
@syntax That is, alpha: not yet feature-complete, but still mostly stable ; beta: feature-complete, bug-squashing is the only thing ..
-
@syntax .. left to do before release.
-
@syntax Obviously, in such a system, anything less stable/complete than alpha would not be given any release, as it would be kept to ..
-
@syntax .. the dev tree, and maybe nightlies.
-
@psquid Ah. You're right, that isn't really how I think of alpha/beta software at all. Thanks!
-
@avery ... when Duke Nukem Forever will be released ? :p
-
@syntax It's not how the vast majority of people (even most developers) treat the terms now, anyway, so that's not that unusual.
-
@psquid Screw unusual - I'd rather get things right.
