Even Chris DiBona w/ his secret data admits that GPLv3 is taking over fast (> 50%) and #AGPLv3 is growing very very fast. #oscon !oscon

@bkuhn I'm pretty excited about those figures.
-
@bkuhn You can do interesting stuff even with non-secret data from Google: license-info.appspot.com cursecode.appspot.com !OSCON

@bkuhn Unfortunately, all I hear lately are people hating on the GPL. It saddens me a little.
-
More about the projects that are 50+% women http://bit.ly/35Mtn (via @webmaven) #oscon
-
@bkuhn If only Google Code would allow projects hosted on their site to be licensed as AGPLv3. I hope we see some change there.
-
@hildjj Ill concede that one. But that is hating on zealots not on the license, no? :)
-
@hildjj, I rarely ask project license change if it's already GPL-compatible license. I'd never advocate LGPL->GPL, but may ask for LGPLv3. ☺
-
@hildjj Why should you be able to use whatever license you want on other peoples code? You can license your own code freely.
-
@hildjj, #GPL doesn't take that freedom away. You can opt out of the GPL by not using it or deriving from software under it. #oscon !oscon

@metajack and how many of us write all of our code completely from scratch
-
@hildjj thats not a good example, since that would violate just about any license (other than BSD)
-
@metajack: the INTENT of the GPL is to attack my freedoms. Thats what its FOR.
-
@linuxwolf: good point re: violation of any license
-
@metajack and that seems less free, not more
-
@bkuhn: do you deny that one of the main intents of the GPL is to create more GPL software through various coercions?
-
@bkuhn it must be nice to have such a black-and-white view of the world
-
@bkuhn http://bit.ly/9xUxS discussion on using #AGPLv3 in #Fedora infrastructure. Concerns about hot-patching servers, public dev hosts.
-
@bkuhn Your view of GPL as harmless applies only if you accept the legitimacy of copyright law in the first place...some of us don't.
-
Designed for optimal performance. Optimal for what? @metajack and @benrobertsabq are debating. http://ping.fm/u15O1

Heading up to Santa Fe tonight to see @metajack and @thedandee rock out in Lousy Robot, along with Dirty Novels and more http://bit.ly/wV52l
