My #desktop might be wearing out. I installed !Debian, and neither the #keyboard nor the #mouse would work. IP didn't either so couldn't SSH

@kete does the keyboard work if you boot into single user mode? (shell) if so use dpkg to reconfigure your keyboard layout to an alt layout
-
@kete Which DE did you install?
-
@ajpaulson good idea, thanks I'll try that when I get home.
-
@danielmarti went with Xfce to have something less intense than KDE
-
@kete Clean base install worked perfectly for me. Then xorg, fluxbox and various apps install and good to go :)
-
@kete Just a thought: because it's mouse as well you should check that your devices are being loaded at boot (udev handles this now I think)
-
@danielmarti I think Desktop Environments make minor details more convenient, and I also want #compositing.
-
@ajpaulson Alright, maybe I accidentally something during #installation, too. (partitions, #keymap, etc.)
-
@kete I accidentally things all the time :p I usually check with live media to see if it's my mistake or bad hardware
-
@ajpaulson The mouse was working before and during installation. I've been searching at work. Need to safe-mode when I get home.
-
@ajpaulson I'm thinking I misunderstood partitions when I made /boot the first.
-
@kete http://bit.ly/hescNa is the Linux partition guide. http://bit.ly/6LydEV is !Debian #weather to check for good days to update
-
@ajpaulson I shouldn't have made a /boot #partition. I'm going to comment its line in fstab and use a gparted disc to merge it into /.
-
@danielmarti I did a clean base install and figured out !Debian starts with my network interface down. I'll do an installation report.
