New #goals for this year: #Ruby certification (I get "pickaxe"), master's #thesis on #management and preparations for #CAE (it'll be hard).

@zal Why won't you try to get CPE instead of CAE? Unless you need that to skip some kind of local examination before a deadline.

@zal Most employers look for any kind of certification in languages to weed out people who lie in CVs :)

@zal No shame in that, certification is for other people :P I'm not planning on getting anything above FCE anytime soon.

@zal Mostly because the nuances don't matter in my line of work (tech. talk) and most talks are in US English not BE :)

@makdaam I find certificates useful only because they give me well defined goals and they are easy to rate. I like to learn in that way ;]

@zal too bad it doesn't work well in networking or more complicated security (where strict procedures and patterns are a disadvantage)

@makdaam Yes, you're right and I'm glad that they're OK for natural languages and basics of computer programming ;] It's a good motivation.
