@damien I think there are some command line utilities, like dvgrab. I used one at work once and it worked pretty good.

@djharuko I used dvgrab. Now I'm trying to convert it to avi format. Using a website to do it. Is there a Linux tool?

@damien Sorry, been afk. It should have dumped straight DV-encoded video. Try mencoder or ffmpeg to convert it. What are you trying to make?

@damien I have one of their laptops. It's lasted me 3 years so far. But it's just a rebranded Asus Z96FM.

@damien Yes, a AAAA battery. I thought it was a AAA, but when one wouldn't fit, I saw the fourth A. I don't think this is wowing though ;)

@damien Yeah, sms isn't well documented and the text on the settings page isn't very descriptive. I don't even know if I'm doing it right.

@damien if its a straight up dv file, try using kino, it does basic conversions like that pretty well

@boredandblogging: I tried that. It only did mpeg 2. I did manage to get Avidmux to convert the mpeg video into flv. That worked for me.
