@marxistvegan so did I until about book 5, after the hype died down, I gave them a fair go, and was hooked within the 1st chapter of bk1

@marxistvegan I remember the fake hype LOTR V Potter, I was always LOTR, but honestly, the Harry Potter novels are brilliant

@marxistvegan make sure you read em in order, each book is a yr at school starting a month or so after the end of the one before

@marxistvegan the books add layer upon layer upon layer as the story unfolds too, turning into a very rich fictional world, great escapism

@marxistvegan bk5 just came out when I finally gave bk1 a chance, JKRowling has done a fantastic job with them, the books age with Harry

@marxistvegan bk1 is about an 11yr old, it's kinda writen for that, bk2 for 12yr olds etc, they mature as Harry grows, in subject matter
