Argh! I'm sick of #gnome-do suddenly deciding it needs 100% of my cpu. Can anyone recommend a replacement? !lo !linux
about a year ago from gwibber-
@pseudomorph gnome3 :)
-
@pseudomorph you might wanna try kupfer or synapse, those are good alternatives
-
@youknowwhoxzy: I'll give them a run, thanx. @marxistvegan Don't think Gnome3 will get a run here for a while, low spec graphics limits
-
@pseudomorph Synapse... :-)
-
@pseudomorph krunner #hah! #butnoseriously #thatswhatIuseinopenbox
-
@pseudomorph Kupfer or Synapse. Try both and then choose the one you prefer
-
@pseudomorph the biggest issue with gnome do is mono, must apps written in mono tend to be memory & CPU hugs. Try synapses very good & light
-
@pseudomorph plus it is written in vala
-
@pseudomorph yeah. Its why I try to avoid them
-
@bigbrovar Well, mint 11 was released today so I'm all for a reinstall and clean up, though i may find it hard to replace banshee.
-
@pseudomorph I used rhythmbox on xubuntu & and it does the job pretty fine. Depends on what u want from a music player though
-
@pseudomorph what features do u miss from rhythmbox
-
@pseudomorph I just like it cus its stable and does what it does well
-
@bigbrovar RB doesn't' allow imporation of OML files & no ability to browse by album art. Banshee tries to be too much, video playback?
-
@pseudomorph hmm those don't sound like deal breakers to me. Anyway have u tried gmusicbrowser?
-
@bigbrovar Neither are deal breakers, just what attracted me to bashee over RB. Hadn't heard of gmusicbrowser, at a glace looks interesting
