      @fergatron: depends on your experience. I'd say you probably can't go wrong with Ubuntu Server for the large community and ease-of-use

      @pharnavaziani this server is a local test. I'm learning LAMP. I just need something light weight that doesn't interfere w/ my main desktop.

      @fergatron: hmm....I'm not an expert, but I do know that Arch Linux and Gentoo are supposed to be pretty small and lightweight.
