♺ @glynmoody: #Github Has Surpassed #Sourceforge and Google Code in Popularity - http://rww.to/kMer5f #Linus triumphs again
-
@bkuhn Better yet: http://repo.or.cz is fully !free, including full server source code !git
-
@vvillenave, yes, but I believe that the @gitorious server source code is also !FaiF, just like http://repo.or.cz 's is. Am I wrong on that?
-
@bkuhn You are correct: https://gitorious.org/gitorious AGPLv3
-
@bkuhn @vvillenave Gitorious is licensed under the AGPL. Code here https://gitorious.org/gitorious/mainline
-
@gitorious @bkuhn Indeed. The main difference is that you guys are a software company, whereas repo.or.cz is purely volunteer-driven.
-
@gitorious, yeah, I thought so, that's why I promote your service. But, I figured it was theoretically possible that you'd stopped. :)
-
@vvillenave, volunteer vs. corporate is indeed an important factor, so I'll start using repo.or.cz too. But I do like @gitorious' interface…
-
@bkuhn: yes, but github wouldn't have succeeded without the underlying code driving it, presumably
-
@gabrielsaldana: what sort of thing had you in mind?
-
@glynmoody, I agree but that makes it all the more !disturbing. #Github is an example of how !GPL is the BSD license of the web application.
-
@bkuhn Isn't that the whole reason the !fsf wrote the Affero !gpl ?
-
@fontana,IMO Wikipedia entry at http://ur1.ca/4byk1 accurately describes !AGPL's creation. @poole was catalyst; idea for 2(d) quine was mine

@bkuhn count on it. I hope to come out of the meeting with my first solo #gplv2 -> #gplv3 convert as well. see you at #selinuxfest again?
-
@jeffg, I won't be at #selinuxfest. I can't make it to all of them. I hope to come in a future year. I'll be at some other fests this year.
-
@bkuhn actually, I hope to convert a friend who maintains a project and who chose gplv2 at outset owing partly to my input.
-
@bkuhn you could if you joined the Q Continuum. you probably could eliminate proprietary sw then, too. you should work on scoring an invite.
-
@jeffg, I'm still somewhat confused at the limits of power of the Q Continuum. It's made clear in the series that "Our Q" exaggerated it.
-
@fontana, that point, while I believe it is true, seems like a non-sequitur for the dent you are responding to. Can you explain further?
-
@fontana, Has @oscon still ignored your requests for details about your talk? It's less than 2 months away. This is very !disturbing.
-
@bkuhn: nice encapsulation
