@fontana I doubt no sublicensing needed in CC BY but it only applies to verbatim use. Why do you think BY→BY-SA compat nonobv for derivs?
-
@fontana I've pretty much come to understand that most statement+questions about license "validity" = FUD+ignorance. !CC0 is in that phase.

@fontana not sure whether addressing "validity" more directly than http://ur1.ca/4cx4l would help or exacerbate.
-
@fontana anyway @consiliens http://lists.harmonyagreements.org/pipermail/harmony-drafting/2011-June/000023.html response right on.
-
@fontana @consiliens OTOH, maybe #Harmony best maximally restricted by ©, no? ;->
-
@fontana @allisonrandal also re http://ur1.ca/4cwyk "unported" stupidly chosen to sound uncool. !CC 4.0 will be consistently "international"
-
@fontana doesn't incl word "valid[ity]" which guess some ppl might look for. nm though, neither does main CC FAQ+same is ex-FFUD for CC-BY*.
-
@fontana Isn''t `non-nationalized' better still? Internat. suggests tailored for an int context, rather than not to any 1 national context.
-
@vanden no superfluous extra label even better, which is true goal, but saying "international" prob useful bridge. non-nationalized snds odd

@fontana Yes, and as a bonus, that would also remind trotw of all of the fun times had with Americans who refer to us as a foreigners. A win
-
@mlinksva Thanks. Agree it sounds odd, but in my limited experience, legal language tends to prefer accuracy over avoidance of oddity :-)
-
@vanden true but a license name isn't exactly legal language (tho could argue part of "legal ui")...
-
@vanden …+I'm lil sympathetic to efforts to achieve legal accuracy but still readable by non-lawyers. too ignorant to commit to position tho
-
@fontana I've not noticed the trend, but then I'm not there. Would welcome it. I've been called a `foreigner' in my own home in Canada!
-
@fontana Yes, anecdotal evidence suggest behaviour I complain of correlated with never having seen salt water. (I do also get NYC's status.)
-
@fontana I find it !disturbing you think of it as an instance of #PC. Now I'll have to ponder. I hate that.
-
@vanden Its status as the worst city in Europe? I completely agree.
-
@vanden Said it lotsa times. Will say again. http://identi.ca/search/notice?q=worst+city+in+Europe&search=Search
-
@vanden And while I'm happy to fly in the face of good enlightened liberal opinion,I think "troll" is the depth of internet prissmastering.
-
@joshix So do I ;-)
-
@joshix Is it original to you? If so, I doff my left-leaning worker's cloth cap to you, sir.
-
@vanden I think so, but I don't track what I invent and what I steal. It's all mine, far as I'm concerned.

@fontana why would sublicensing be needed?
-
@fontana gotcha, doesn't seem to make sense in that context. For some reason I thought you had a general problem with it in all the licenses
-
@fontana Could you give a sublicense without the attribution requirement?
-
@mlinksva still it seems 2me that there are plenty of alternatives that please both, like "standard", "generic", also "universal", "global"
-
@fontana Hang on. Does no sublicensing of CC-by mean CC-by is potentially incompatible with e.g. CC-by-SA? Or do they have explicit compat?
