it's always interesting to me to learn what !irc client people use, whether it be on their phone, or desktop, or tablet/pda.
about a year ago from xmpp-
@eightyeight Irssi on the desktop/laptop, I don't use one on my phone.
-
@mo6020 is that because ConnectBot is pretty awful on a virtual keyboard?
-
@yamatt Yeh, and I don't really use IRC enough to need it on my phone. I barely use my phone for anything these days...
-
@eightyeight #irssi and #konversation for me :)
-
@eightyeight #irssi in #screen on !debian (see http://ur1.ca/4d4fd), sometimes also the same screen via #ConnectBotIrssi on !android
Nandan likes this. -
@eightyeight !irssi on !debian also.
-
@eightyeight i use !emacs erc mode
-
@eightyeight: I use XChat on Debian 6 GNOME 64.
-
@gabrielsaldana #erc? ah, my eyes! :)
-
@mo6020 ah, fair enough. I was just about to have a good old moan about the usability of ConnectBot :)
-
@evgeni #connectbotirssi #ftw! ツ
-
@eightyeight jmirc (.sf.net) on mobile, pidgin on laptop. Didn't try irssi yet. Have to admit pidgin kinda sucks on PC to use for identi.ca
-
@eightyeight: I switched from #irssi in #screen to #rcirc in !emacs that runs in daemon mode
-
@eightyeight Actually, pidgin doesn't linkify the notice(or conversation) id on identi.ca's updates. Don't remember how to make it do that.
-
@eightyeight !irssi or !pidgin (at least when it can connect) on !debian
-
@yamatt It's useful enough to restart a service or something until you can get to a proper ssh client..
-
@eightyeight I use Quassel. Love it. Prefer it over Xchat.
-
@mo6020 yeah, basic tasks, but it's still very difficult to do some things on a virtual keyboard unless you do it a lot.
-
@dotmg your terminal emulator might support it, such as gnome-terminal or rxvt
-
@yamatt have you tried the hackers keyboard?
-
@eightyeight @sirestart #erc is fine interactively but letting #emacs in daemon mode consumes a lot of CPU, #irssi is better for irc in bg
-
@yamatt Yeh, virtual keyboards are teh suck for anything generally..
-
@eightyeight !emacs erc mode on !ubuntu (work) !arch (home)
-
@xtl bad editing? what are you talking about?
-
@eightyeight: I just use #ChatZilla for my #IRC needs
-
@eightyeight: screen !irssi on !ubuntu via ssh to a private server, so, i'm always online :D
