@darkrose I agree with @cyberkiller, they are not even on the same level, !xmpp is far better
-
@czhan I think it's partly a matter of tools familiarity and partly that irc usually doesn't force you to find an account provider first
-
@darkrose you can use your client to discover the public rooms on a server, if your client supports it
-
@darkrose happend to me many times, anyway searching for rooms this way is useless. U need to know what chatroom u want cause there R 2 many
-
@darkrose, wait what, this IS standardized, about any client out there implements this
-
@darkrose that the same with _every_ protocol, format, or anything standard
-
@darkrose anyway room listing isn't a chatroom feat. let's move on to security, encoding support, persistance, and other options, shall we?
-
@darkrose The servers offer lists of their rooms that can be retrieved through the clients. Also take a look to http://search.wensley.org.uk

@mivael nah, there are some anonymous xmpp-mucs. either way you might rather use slic or something like that...
-
!ejabberd support anonymous user and any !xmpp server can connect to conf room of other servers.
-
@mivael some !xmpp servers support anonymous logins, !prosody for one. http://prosody.im/doc/anonymous_logins
