@bkuhn Given that Gnome pronounced it "nome" in its own Gnome 3 promo videos, I think it's probably an accepted variant.

@copiesofcopies, I think "Ga-nome", and "nome" are both acceptable. You're correct that some !GNOME hackers leave 'g' silent. Genome is odd.

@diablomarcus, I'm not sure that was the case. Note that I dented, deleted, and redented a spelling fix with something around that time.
