@mcepl IBM had a deal with SUN (which must be honoured by Oracle) for a proprietary license to OpenOffice. Read the history and you'll see.
-
@mcepl Well I certainly agree they can't proprietorise LGPL code, that's just a fact. But I also don't see why they need to in the 1st place
-
@mcepl If you do want to learn more about the issue there's a good discussion on FAIF 0x11. I wouldn't blame you for skipping it though :)
-
@mcepl I saw that. I think they're issuing a correction in the new show but haven't heard it yet.
-
@fontana, it won't be. We just need to interview people to get the data we need to build the full history. It needs to be accurate, no?
-
@fontana, why don't you write a first draft of chapter 1? I'll stick with whatever way of doing it that you want to do. Just write. :)

@bkuhn RHE[G]L was started shortly after I joined Red Hat. I co-ran ftp.unicamp.br mirrors then, and RH enterprise sources were there
-
@bkuhn I remember being surprised when I found out about them, and being annoyed it wasn't widely publicized
-
@bkuhn though back then it was called Advanced Server, so take my memories with a grain of salt
-
@methoddan have a link to the info
-
@lorddrachenblut Don't have any direct links to hand sorry. @bkuhn was telling me the history. He may be able to help with links.
-
@lorddrachenblut We talked about it at length I FAIF episode 0x11 if you want to hear more.
-
@methoddan awesome, I still need to, and will be subscribing to that show
