@xopher I think I know what you mean, but poorly worded. You're saying no society has suffered due to confirmation bias!

@xopher not to mention wishful thinking. eg I know a society many of its people desirous of evidence that earth is 6000 years old.

@mlinksva but the desire of the evidence isn't the cause for suffering. It's the acceptance of the belief without it.

@xopher if you had left out "in support of their core beliefs" or better replaced "support of" with "opposition to" I'd agree with you.
