I liked !Google +. It collect !Facebook and !Diaspora features.

@zahra Great! Does Google+ collect !Diaspora 's main feature (privacy from having some company read and sell your data)? If so, count me in!

@freepixels Circles idea works as Aspects idea on !Diaspora.

@zahra As I was reminded yesterday, #Appleseed used "Circles" even long before !Diaspora (but it's !free as well).

@vvillenave Really? I only know Diaspora!

    • V.Villenave V.Villenave Diaspora - The Project

@zahra There are a number of !freesoftware "social" services out there besides !Diaspora: #Appleseed, !GNUsocial, #Movim, #Friendika...

    • freepixels freepixels Diaspora - The Project , Friendica , V.Villenave

@vvillenave Appleseed seems stagnant. GnuSocial in a coma. Movim just started. Only !Diaspora and !Friendika seem to have any traction.

@zahra ...which does nothing towards giving you "privacy from having some company read and sell your data". It's just #gFacebook

@freepixels I have to say, to me they *all* qualify as stagnant so far. I'm !bored everywhere except on !identica.

@freepixels I do, however, feel sympathetic towards the devs behind !GNUsocial and Appleseed, much humbler than !Diaspora but equally gifted

@vvillenave Absolutely. I'd love for Appleseed to take off. Seems like a nice guy without the attitude of some of the Friendika bunch.

@freepixels That is one of the feature that I wish it could have. But who knows.I just want #Google+ to be #Federated. :D #itwonthappen :(

@freepixels @vvillenave @zahra: I wish #Appleseed would be more popular, but the developer is moving to slow. :( I hope I am wrong.

@freepixels: no argument from me there, I think u r right.

@littlet That it's "*the* developer" singular is really the problem. The Diaspora / Friendika guys 1. Are >1 person and 2. Bring others in

    • freepixels freepixels Joshua Demallistre

@littlet Would be a good start. I still wouldn't use until Ggl stopped using my personal life as a platform for behavior modification though

@freepixels well, I can't talk for #appleseed, but it is true that an >1 programmer can do more than just 1. Simple logic.

@freepixels Dude, that is going to take such a while. I believe #itwonthappen :( I am ok with #Diaspora :D

@freepixels @freepixels @lnxwalt280: not too far from now, we are going to have easy to use plug servers at home for #email #xmpp #Diaspora

    • freepixels freepixels Joshua Demallistre

@littlet I hope so. Concerned it's been >4 months since funding & I've heard little from FreedomBox beyond a couple of hires. Speed matters.

@freepixels I'd be concerned if they just threw out a half-thought generic box. They need to take some time to do it right.

@freepixels Yep, I am so waiting for that. Thinking about buying a #Tonido plug just to start. Have you heard of them?

    • freepixels freepixels Joshua Demallistre

@littlet Yeah. I tried the Tonido software. Interface was a bit clunky, but nice features and surprisingly easy to get installed and started

    • Joshua Demallistre Joshua Demallistre freepixels

@freepixels I might be buying the plug once they are availabe.Do you know if the Whole software is #FOSS? or do they have #proprietary stuff

    • freepixels freepixels Joshua Demallistre

@littlet They use their server to solve dyn dns issues, so it's more decentralised than distributed, but seems like a good interim option

    • freepixels freepixels Joshua Demallistre

@littlet I believe it's proprietary, but I'd guess you could wipe over it with your own distro or something...
