@fontana,I believe I'll be drinking #Hunter's #coffee anyway later this month;I presume her backers, #Microsoft, will buy coffee ∀ at !OSCON

@bkuhn You might want to read http://bit.ly/nTW79F - interested in your reaction.

I posted a treatise (aka long blog post) on #Harmony, #CLA's, ©AAs. In #Dijkstra tradition:"Harmony Considered Harmful": http://ur1.ca/4no66

@bkuhn thanks for writing about Project Harmony in such a clear way. i heartily agree with your analysis. cheers :)
-
@bkuhn i'm concerned w/the dense legalese in the templ docs is impenetrable for most f/oss devs, leading to signing w/out understanding
-
@bkuhn if ever there was a blog post that needed more than 140 char responses, this is it. I fear this will stifle conversation.
-
@greg,I don't see how conversation can be stifled; people have their own blogs. I stand by this mechanism: write a blog response & link here
-
@bkuhn: ... comments on a blog require neither and are thus lighter weight/lower barrier to entry/more conducive to conversations.
-
@greg,I won't debate this again. I've a post queued explaining reasons. Pls volunteer to run comment § that suits my needs or leave me alone
-
@bkuhn this is a reasonable start: http://lwn.net/Articles/450543 .. long live LWN.

@erez, I'm familiar w/ Meyer's positions on "Considered Harmful". I don't agree; it's a homage to computing history more than anything else.
-
@bkuhn I almost agree, except to blog on a topic gives it more exposure and some valid responses may not want to do that.
-
@bkuhn No, I just dislike "considered harmful" titles
-
@bkuhn I think you are confusing "choice of law" and "choice of venue". The former gives clarity; the latter has the issues you identify.
-
@erez, I really don't title that way often, but there was an alliteration w/ "Harmony" and "Harmful" that was just too tough to resist here.
-
@bkuhn Oh dear, missed that one completely. My bad.
-
@fontana #OuterCurve, the #Microsoft "open source" foundation?
-
@bkuhn Great post! BTW I love that you use the acronym html-tag :)
-
@fontana, the most !disturbing use of #lolcats I ever saw though *after* I stopped using it, was @spot's announcement of fatherhood.
-
@fontana, more annoying is that you didn't mention this to me when you saw a draft of the blog post. Why didn't you say so?
-
@fontana, to extent to which it compares you, me and @nearyd to #Freud, I definitely find it !problematic. OTOH it's akin to my title choice
-
@fontana got around to reading it, and it seems to have some merit as an objective-ish summary, but it doesn't seem to add anything.
-
@webmink, over the years, I've grown much less sympathetic for people who want to make public statements that are hidden in plain sight.

@fontana,violating my rule (repercussions exist for posts on OpenSource.Com),I commented there. Summary:Where's your transparency now,SEE?!?
-
@bkuhn Very useful and careful post; thanks! Nit: "was done in secrecy behind closed meetings" scans wrong to me.
-
@vanden SCANNABILITY alert.

@andyc whats that scannability thing?

@gabrielsaldana @marjoleink doesn't like her timeline polluted with >140 redirects, inline images and, to an extent, I agree with her.

@gabrielsaldana it's a send up of an absurd and rude reaction to someone posting photographs on their own website.

@andyc @rpcutts does this scannability problem happen only at the web interface? I dont have it with !identicamode :)
-
@bkuhn Thanks for writing that :) It's a very helpful overview and, btw, I think a TL;DR would have done it injustice.

@bkuhn Awesome read! With an impressive but intimidating list of references that will keep me busy for weeks. :-)

@fontana, I find that statement by the #Plone Foundation very !disturbing. I wonder if that's antithetical to their Form 1023?
-
@fontana, #Hunter's #UnitedLinux background + #Microsoft ties makes her position taken in comments on your blog dubious. http://ur1.ca/4ny7q
