@fontana +1 on that point! My Brit editions are worth the money and the wait. :-)
-
Waiting in theater for 00:01 showing of #HarryPotter & Deathly Hallows Part 2. Glad @fontana is online to #troll me; it helps pass the time.
-
@bkuhn HP fan or just dragged along?
-
@diablomarcus,see my old dents tagged #HarryPotter for details. My wife's a serious fan. I'm more casual fan; wouldn't be her midnight alone
-
@bkuhn Gotcha. Well, enjoy anyway!
-
Just saw #Harry_Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part II. Probably among the best of the films. Still, book knowledge is mandatory to follow.
-
@bkuhn Will I be able to follow having read all but the last book?
-
@nearyd, I think you will follow it but some details might be confusing. Did you see Part 1 of Deathly Hallows?
-
@bkuhn Yup. I've picked up most of the important bits, I think. The films need to fill continuity gaps from earlier books to make sense.
-
@nearyd,I've long maintained that the #HarryPotter films are basically cinematic accompaniment to the books. They're too confusing otherwise
-
@bkuhn on the cinematic end, I've remembered why star wars was the way it was. I remember that there was an interview with george lucas
-
@fontana,I'd prefer not to generate a #spoiler by confirming or denying whether or not ∃ #Quidditch scenes in #HarryPotter & the DH Part II.
-
@mairin, That's #HarryPotter & #GoF. It's more straightforward than most of the movies, but does require some knowledge about wizard world.
-
@fontana, I still find it !disturbing that you haven't read any #HarryPotter books, but nowhere near as disturbing as not having seen #STDS9
-
@bkuhn glad to know. My wife and I are going tonight, as she didn't want to deal with lack of sleep for midnight release
-
@mairin I would recommend you read the first book of the Harry Potter series. Get the flavor from before the hype.
-
@fontana Are you sure you can handle "The Philosopher's Stone"? I'm given to understand it is somehow incompatible with American psyche.
-
@fontana Dumbing down? It's a children's book about wizards and whatnot. ;)
-
@fontana I don't understand how s/Philosopher/Sorcerer thought better. If anything, more a red-flag to bible-belt book baning types.
-
@fontana We've so little to feel smugly superior about, so suck it up! :-)
-
@bkuhn IMO needing to know the book -> not a good movie, even if good visual companion piece. (And I agree, book knowledge necessary.)
-
@mindspillage, IMO entire #HarryPotter film series has been in conflict: "Make books fans like it or make stand-alone movies?" Tough choice!
