@nikolai35 Wishing you a Happy Bastille Day
Monday, 14-Jul-08 04:06:04 UTC from web-
post length bug (issue 00179) still not fixed. tired to mention this repeatedly. cannot understand why it's so difficult to solve
-
@masaka Sorry for the long wait, I had a queue of submitted patches to test and push. The multibyte counter is up on production now!
-
@evan: Works now, thanks! (And thanks for the reply tab. :-)
-
ahh, @evan, now JS counter really works in bytes (not chars), but problem not solved, i.e. identi.ca accepts only 46 chars in Japanese :(
-
@masaka is 140 characters in Japanese reasonable? Seems like a lot of information. What do other microblogs allow?
-
@evan, the problem is not counter, but strlen($content) thing in postnotice.php (or some other input checks) that should handle multibytes
-
@evan, 140 chars in Japanese is long enough (maybe too long). Most microblogging services accept 140 chars
-
@masaka my understanding was that SMS handles 160 bytes, no matter how it's encoded.
-
@evan, 140 chars seems reasonable. People would want to use the same apps to post to twitter etc.
-
@evan sms max is 140 octets. japanese chars must be encoded in 16-bit UCS-2 this gives us 70 japanese char maxlength for sms
-
@evan I don't know so much about PHP, but I guess you might have to use mb_strlen instead of pure strlen?
-
@evan UCS-2 is mandatory for sms (for japanese chars), not for us, (microblogging) naturally. however limit is 140 octets for sms messages
-
@evan according to wikipedia it's 140 8-bit bytes (160 7-bit characters, 140 8-bit characters, or 70 16-bit characters) http://ur1.ca/hs
-
@evan 16-bit UCS-2 character encoding is used for Arabic, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Russian or other Slavic languages
-
@evan Getting a strange XML parsing exception when I hit the IM tab in Settings. FYI...
-
@evan - How many people are on identi.ca?
-
@evan - I just wrote about Twitter and identi.ca at my blog, Crossword Bebop http://www.crosswordbebop.com/?p=1534
-
@evan getting this on IM settings: Warning:Wrong parameter count for _() in /var/www/identi.ca/actions/imsettings.php on line 60
-
@bmanley @evan Sorry, my mistake. Fixed in my repo: http://identi.ca/notice/79909
-
@evan one thing I miss from Twitter is getting a notice when someone subscribes to your updates. kthxbai!
-
@evan any chance of doing auto-contraction of URL's through ur1.ca in order to save byte count (maybe a check box below the send ) button?
-
@nikolai35 any chance you can post those pictures you took during our Greek dinner in Montreal? (Like on Skydrive, or PicasaWeb or flickr)
-
@evan I fixed the rememberme cookie issue I was having: http://laconi.ca/PITS/00250. If you can apply, fantastic!
-
@nikolai35 Same strategy as me. But my only digi camera body is a 300D (Rebel). I have a cool 50mm compact macro, tho.
-
@evan how about rel=me on the homepage links?
-
@evan How about a custom domain service - e.g. identica.mydomain.com shows the feed at identi.ca/user/all
-
@chaz6 Would you pay for that? I see that being a premium service, like WordPress.com.
-
@nikolai35 Oh, nice! http://ur1.ca/jc
-
@zach I do all my photo processing online now - www.yorkphoto.com. They're dirt cheap - $1.99/roll, $1/roll to scan medium res.
-
@zach tempted to go back to Canon. I might be tempted by a 10D or 30D, or go batshit crazy and get the 5D. Want to shoot a 50/1.4 again.
-
@stav A swim sounds great. We'll call you today.
-
@zach Evan wanted me to help you get a hold of the Twitterfox people - have you tried twitternotifier@naan.net already?
