thinking of switching from pidgin to #kopete. Any caveats? am in the process of transfering the OTR keys. Is there a Sametime plugin? !kde
-
@emrecio honestly I wouldn't. Kopete, while nice, is (almost) unmaintained and can be quite buggy.
-
@emrecio it is my personal opinion that kopete is maintained just to keep it afloat.
-
@emrecio if you want to use a native !kde multi account chatting client then check out kde telepathy http://www.sharpley.org.uk/node/15
-
@emrecio am not sure of the Sametime plugin, Kopete is not actively developed AFAIK. Telepathy not ready to use as I see it
-
@jospoortvliet i think it depends on what chat protocols you use; for my admitedly non-heavy use, it's perfect
-
@aseigo true. Despite its age and little maintenance Kopete is surprizingly well-features and configurable. Only usability isn't perfect...
-
@aseigo Kopete's codebase probably makes grown man cry but any successor has BIG shoes to fill... I much rather would've seen it stay alive!
-
@jospoortvliet Ah, #Kopete's unmaintained? :/ Shame that #KMess seems to be going that way too.
-
@ralesk wstephenson fixes the worst bugs but no features for kopete. Still its ahead of 90% of competition, that's how good it was...
-
@jospoortvliet What would you recommend instead? I really like #Kopete's metacontact display. !KDE
-
@emrecio I have been using the kopete for close to 3 years now.what I like about it is kde integration. but its a bit dated but basics works
