@jargon don't you think that would set a bad precedent? when will GNOME rename a Next App and !KDE will have to rename it to KDE Next App?
-
@rysiek "We're changing Abiword's name to, 'Words', and it's KDE's fault that things are confusing now!"
-
@marcusharrison but but but *you* can't own a generic name across desktops! /we, on the other hand... ;)
-
@rysiek It's all YOUR fault you picked a name ages ago we decided we liked!
-
@rysiek I'm pretty sure Gnome devs are trolls.
-
@marcusharrison now let's not get that far! remember, Miguel de Icaza is one of them... oh wait. ;)
-
@gallaecio @muungwana KDE is a generic name, and I have proof: http://goo.gl/o9hJh /me is kidding
-
@gallaecio "system settings" was taken ,why not use "system preferences" instead? this round of bickering could have easily be avoided
-
@gallaecio So would it be all right if Gnome decided to change, "Abiword" to, "Words", since the name is, after all, generic?
-
@muungwana Fine for English. Not so fine for German or Galician. And I think generic names can be a problem even when used for 1 app.
-
@gallaecio yes, but then who would get the generic package name? Gnome, kde, lxde, xfce, ...?
-
@marcusharrison 1. Gereric name there would be “Word Processor”. 2. My point is the opposite, generic names should be avoided!
-
@danielmarti I don’t get what you are asking. :$ I think we should avoid generic names for apps.
-
@gallaecio my bad, didn't read the whole conversation. I am on your side ;)
-
@marcusharrison Words is not a generic name, 'Word Processor' is.
