@fabsh they made a mistake, it's being fixed immediately.(linking to the mail thread would have been preferable though ;) )

RD @fabsh @bkuhn Any comment? http://news.slashdot.org/story/11/07/29/1445252/Emacs-Has-Been-Violating-the-GPL-Since-2009 --interesting..thoughts?

@fabsh Distributing binaries without source is not a problem. The source needs to be offered. Maybe no one asked for it til now?
-
@tekk What mail thread? I don't read the fucking Emacs mailing list! Do you think I'm crazy???
-
@gomerx That was my thought as well. Perhaps they actually lost the source however, which might be an issue.
-
@fabsh it was linked in the thread and included rms' response :)
-
As others are saying, !GNU !Emacs developers & !FSF will resolve this !GPL situation quickly, @fabsh. Here's my comment: http://ur1.ca/4tc4q
Osama Khalid likes this. -
@bkuhn Thanks. Wanted your take before I comment on this myself. :)
-
@bkuhn Nice post, BTW. Thanks for that. Telling everyone about it now. :)

@diablomarcus I'm sure they'll do the right thing. At least it made Slashdot happy for a few minutes.
-
Btw, I should own up. I wrote the Slashdot story, deliberately sensationalised. Because it was hilarious. :-)
-
@jordigh, I wasn't against putting story out there. It's funny;problem is most people were confused b/c they don't understand GPL compliance
