Puzzled with latest !LO: Fab argues Fedora is power user distro because of flawed graphical package manager. Power users appreciate that?
-
@mjjzf They don't appreciate it because it doesn't matter to them - he's arguing that they all use the terminal.
-
@gdflash What would you have described it as? This is a term that's generally understood well.
-
@fabsh I choose not to use the term at all. Sounds elitist to me. "I'm cool and hardcore cuz I use XYZ Linux"
-
@fabsh I'm fairly sure thats not what you mean when you talk about Power Users, but thats how it sounds to me, and it bugs me.
-
@mjjzf Nope but they do not mind that much, because they got alternatives - knows that it will be fixed, and perhaps is like xterm better.
-
@gdflash Nothing wrong with having an elite. Sometimes you need to call things as they are.
-
@fabsh an elite is fine, elite by skills that is...elite by virtue of having a certain OS installed is BS. I think you would agree.
-
@fabsh we could agree that "power users" have the ability and the interest to customize their systems to their needs,
-
@fabsh and a "power user distro" is one that is conducive to this kind of heavy modification, being close to stock or "upstream" sources.
