[$] Android and the GPLv2 death penalty http://lwn.net/Articles/455013/rss
about 10 months ago from api-
@lwnnet Just asking the obvious here but how the heck do u violate the GPL?
-
@ikaruga2099 Publish binaries without source.
-
@bkuhn This guy isn't going to go away.
-
@bkuhn while i am on 4.3 is the best 3 years ago, anyway
-
@bkuhn Why not just prove the guy wrong with a couple of simple links? E.g. HTC: http://htcdev.com/devcenter/downloads
-
@bkuhn Depends on what precisely the violation is. HTC "waits" about 60 days to release the sources: goo.gl/8fUmN
-
@benanov OK so what if I want to feed my family and income depends on keeping code a secret, what license can i use? or what business model?
-
@bkuhn I'd have to confess I never had the time to listen to the "new" FaiF podcast. :-(
-
@ikaruga2099 You can use Free Software that doesn't have copy-left provisions, like BSD 2-clause license.
-
It's possible you've heard some stuff about #Naughton, !Google, !Android & !Linux this week. I urge you to ignore it. http://ur1.ca/5snl8
-
Sounds like sound advice any week.
-
@bkuhn I love that episode.
-
@fontana, yeah, but I still am unsure about how to pronounce it properly. Is it just so-FIST-ick or something more complicated?
-
Based on the pronunciation of sophistry (<http://ur1.ca/5sxl6>) and that of -tic words generally, I'd guess sa-FI-stic.
-
@ikaruga2009 Why would you publish under an open license then? Just do a normal EULA that says that the user has no rights
-
Okay. Are you straightening things out with the violation I reported? :)
