anyone got experience of one these: http://mybebook.com/6-inch-ereaders/c14/p25/bebook-neo-ereader/product_info.html ? #bebook !ebooks
-
@r7 Seems pretty expensive compared to the Kindle. I assume you have reasons not to buy a Kindle?
-
@r7 You don't need to buy books from them to use their reader. I understand if you don't want to give them your money, though.
-
@gomerx true & also true | my major content is gonna be #projectgutenberg ePubs, so converting every file may also be a #pita
-
@r7 A lot of it is already available for free from Amazon. I read a lot of PDFs that Amazon converts to Kindle format for me for free.
-
@r7 That's a bit more reasonable. I'd miss my keyboard, and internal storage is much less. I wonder how the screen quality compares?
-
@gomerx @davidmarsden @r7 yes that was my recollection too, can be very powerful.
-
@r7 If it's purely idealogical, then spend the extra money and go non-Kindle. I'm able to get around the proprietariness to my satisfaction
-
@cer I spend a lot of time sitting on a bench outside reading. A netbook doesn't work in bright sunlight.
-
@gomerx I live in the Pacific Northwest, bright sunlight not a concern :)
-
@davidmarsden thanks for that info
-
@jonkulp don't have one of those
-
@jonkulp haven't a reason to have one | my #mobile is erm #basic | worked in a #callcentre for 5 years & hate the damn things
-
@jonkulp I have some free Sherlock Holmes stuff in Google Books, but I only use it when I'm away from home and have a couple minutes free.
-
@r7 But the "default" is a paper book, which is proprietary. I read those too, because I hate freedom. :)
-
@gomerx Don't know if manybooks.net is doing something wrong. I think they use Calibre for converting to epub. 1 of 2
-
@gomerx i've noticed that about you ;)
-
@gomerx but a paper book gives you the freedom of lending it to somenoe else or giving it away ;)
-
@gomerx they always display centre justify in fbreader. And fbreader is unable to change it to lift justify. sucks 2 of 2
-
@jonkulp Interesting. I'll have to check my library. I doubt I'd ever pay for books to read on the phone, but free is good.
-
@marjoleink Most of the books on my Kindle are PDF. I can copy them and give them away. Copying a book is harder, and illegal.
-
@neptune78 I find similar problems with stuff converted to PDF. Sometimes they're odd, but usually readable.
-
@gomerx that's the flipside or paper books indeed...
-
@jonkulp #paper of course, however our _total_ living space is 30m^2, my bookshelf allocation is full #oneinoneout
-
@marjoleink I think the market will eventually force Amazon to let people trade and resell eBooks.
-
@marjoleink If I'm waiting in a restaurant for a friend to show up, I'll whip out the phone and read a bit. That's about it.
-
@gomerx I hope so but I don't think so
-
@r7 We've got a great local bookstore, and I tend to trade stuff out a lot. Computer books are about all that stays.
-
@gomerx un poco diferente ;) nearest decent [not good] english-language bookshop is ~200km way in barcelona
-
@jonkulp barna's great like that :)
-
@r7 I try to remember how privileged I am. Mine is about 5K away. I've ridden my bike there before.
-
@gomerx Notice that Okular displays kindle (azw) & epub just fine. May be shying away from fbreader. Don't care for Calibre because its slow
