!facebookfree why not better get involved with !gnewbook or !elgg and focus in just ONE BIG free social network project? that would be smart
-
@danthux -- in my opinion, we need something under the #AGPL. that's what #gnusocial and !daisychain will do. !freefacebook !gnu
-
@mattl Hi!
-
@danthux -- it's based on Elgg, which is GPLv2 only.
-
@mattl gNewBook is based on elgg, and is under AGPL
-
@danthux -- correct. !daisychain will be AGPLv3 or later.
-
@ovalenzuela -- how? Elgg is GPLv2, and AGPL is incompatible with GPLv2?
-
@mattl sorry i confuse about other platform, is right, elgg is under gplv2 and the new versions are under MIT
-
@ovalenzuela -- new versions of Elgg are under the X11 license? Can I have a link to that, please?
-
@mattl check it here http://docs.elgg.org/wiki/License
-
@mattl I hope you are intending that !daisychain wil be *better* than facebook etc. :) I really want to be able to recommend it to friends.
-
@ovalenzuela @mattl of course !daisychain is a good idea, but if #X11 and #AGPL are compatible it's better to focus in !gnewbook | !elgg,no?
-
@danthux i don't know if we'll use any elgg code. we're shooting for something different here, and having all the code under the AGPL.
-
@mattl did you look at noosfero?
-
@danthux Really? I see "Politicas y Términos de Uso" in the bottom right ;)
-
@mattl don't use elgg. I agree it's wrong fit. Mahara might work. Or just symphony.
-
@danthux !elgg is under the GNU GPLv2 license, no? !daisychain shouldn't re-invent the wheel is what you're saying?
-
@gnulinuxgeek64 thats TOS is for hosting service offered to partners, there isnt a specific TOS for !gnewbook yet
-
@danthux is it possible to re-license !elgg to AGPL? or would that depend on the elgg devs?
-
@danthux, some feel a better way to get !facebookfree is decentralised: have open protocols for *many* sites to form a big social network.
-
@bignose i didn't notice in that way, but is definitly a good idea :) (maybe openid+xmpp+vudumagic FTW?)
