!identica de retour avec une nouvelle interface... première impression, je n'aime pas du tout les menus de gauche, tout en majuscules !

I don't have an issue #YoungEyes
-
Seconded. There's no reason to get nasty over a free social networking service.
-
Agreed.
-
@marjoleink I agree with @evan, but what do you mean with "that goes both ways"?
-
I use and enjoy! Identica but that's why capitalize is not a good choice 1/2
-
And there's no need to go on about it endlessly. We all know you hate this
-
Typographical conventions for capitalization, legibility problems (dyslexia) 2/2
-
No, but you're getting personal and there's no reason to. Do you honestly believe this sort of communication helps anyone?
-
There are nicer ways to bring this up. Use http://identi.ca/url/18497337 as @evan has mentioned to many people
-
Oups... je ne m'attendais pas à soulever un tel tollé en donnant ma première réaction à chaud :-(
-
@webatou le problème, c'est que ça chauffe depuis ce matin. Amha tu n'y es pour rien ou presque :-/
-
I believe there are better ways to discuss this than crapping on the people who made it.

Yeah, it's too bad we have no idea who works at Status.net.
-
Please keep in mind that legibility does change as writing conventions change over time. E.g.: sans-serif is universal online.
-
Capitalisation does help people with different reading capabilities be involved in the conversation. Note: #hashtags are also problems.
-
En effet... je viens de lire ton billet à ce propos :/

@marjoleink what about designing a new interface ? If it's great, I'm sure !statusnet team will use or adapt it, won't they ?

Capitalization is just a matter of CSS here (display.css, line 248). Hardly worth making a fuss. Alternate stylesheet also an option.

@marjoleink I know that much, but did @evan insult you then?
-
@marjoleink making them aware of issues is one thing, rudeness is another.
-
@marjoleink you need to be convinced ? If I want a feature, I've to try to implement it. 1/2
-
Quick read of http://webstyleguide.com/ Nothing against caps. Consistency is the theme. Sidebar and menubar should agree for good design.

@marjoleink What !statusnet team will do (or not) with it after is just another problem. Just try and you'll see :)
-
#wtf where did that image come from?
-
Quite.
-
@marjoleink I did not wait to be convinced that !sn team want my "web performances" plugin to start implementing it ;)
-
Is this is really easy and comfortable to read? http://identi.ca/attachment/53818474
-
@marjoleink that's really a shame. I think you definitely should share it. Other people could be interested in it
-
Thank you for this resource, very interesting! About Capitals http://webstyleguide.com/wsg3/8-typography/5-typographic-emphasis.html

@zoowar My last answer is for you but the reply does not work , sorry
-
♻ @evan: You can disagree with the way this software works, but you cross the line when you insult my team
-
No worries.
-
Glad you found the right section, 'except perhaps for short headings', so the argument should pivot to 'is the sidebar nav headings'
-
#design criteria are not necessarily #accessibility criteria. Reading ability is a continuum; some people have difficulty reading all caps.
-
@zoowar Not exactly. Sidebars and menus look often like text, not really like heading (look at my capture posted before)
-
Can you provide some support material that discusses 'short headings' and not text in general?
-
For the record, I would follow title capitalization rules. Would also write 'Open Office' rather than Openoffice.org.
-
I saw your example. Half the issue is web sites versus web site names. The other half, I agree, is shouting.
-
No, I won't. This issue, and this software, is not important enough for me to get into a fully-cited law case. Make your own decisions.
