it's notable that #Microsoft waited until the #DOJ attention over antitrust concerns was lifted before this new UFI !Linux blocking
Marjolein Katsma and darkestkhan like this. -
It only shows how important having !fs all the way down is important: http://ur1.ca/5503q. If it is, you have conrol and no one else.

@jonkulp UFI is a BIOS standard, MS is requiring feature for windows 8 certification which will probably make systems refuse to boot linux.
-
@jonkulp there is a thread with a link in the forum.

@jonkulp You wouldn't want "hackers" to install any software they want on your computer would you? Windows 8 will prevent that horror.
-
@jonkulp it seems to be a form of DRM for the OS, but the likely outcome is restricting what OS the system will boot.
-
@thistleweb i am !enraged & #notsurprised | #balmer goes on my #murdochlist

@jonkulp certified booting, so it won't boot unsigned OS's, for "piracy" I assume, well the excuse given

@jonkulp means a linux iso won't boot, even if you get installed as dual boot the hardware will see it as tampered with and not boot
-
