I am far more concerned about slow performance and broken functionality that prevents me posting and an unreliable Timeline than data loss.

Yeah - it's starting to feel like a slow, painful death by 1,000 cuts and the lack of any official statement is unforgivable IMHO.

I'm to the point I'm thinking of starting my own instance and just using that. Enough instances and we can drop Identi.ca entirely.

If I were paranoid I'd say these failures might even be designed to get us to move to our own instances. But I'm not paranoid.

I don't think it's any secret that evan would like us to run our own instances. I don't think he'd sabotage Identi.ca, though. :)

Well, maybe once I get mine up I can help troubleshoot. More instances is better, but I immagine it takes time and energy to maintain.

I imagine their main customers would be medium to small closed sites - businesses and such. Who wants to fund something like Identi.ca?
