ATI/AMD IMHO. I got them in my HP notebook and I can even play games with it. ATI GPUs are amazing
-
Intel graphics are still pretty crappy. The drivers are good, but the hardware is junk.

I wouldn't even call the GMA500 hardware good for a netbook.

@rysiek: Are you doing serious 3D work? If not an Intel graphics card should more then enough. Save yourself the headache. Intel just works.
-
@rysiek get a #Radeon - they generally have the best performance to price ratio and problems with linux drivers are a myth

@rysiek If you want libre drivers with no firmware intel (save the GMA 500) followed by nVidia chips supported by nouveau are your best bet.
-
@rysiek If the libre quality of the drivers is of no concern I would go Radeon.
-
@trashheap I heard libre Radeon drivers gotten much, much better lately, to the point of being better than nouveau
-
@rysiek the open source Radeon drivers are not fully libre as they require binary firmware to be installed for 3d.
-
@rysiek not intel. It is a nogo AFAIK.
-
I would go for nvidia. It has imo the best performance on linux based systems.

@trashheap @ratios Just FYI, Nouveau doesn't support things like fan speed, so your fan will be running full speed all the time.
