Facebook will IMHO fail (following AOL's path). I told you so http://is.gd/Fpepa4 Yes, I am crazy.
-
why? sad to see you go ... I hope G+ stops being evil soon, so we can chat again.
-
I completely agree, I would even say (horror!) that control of my data is more important for me than freeness of the code. /me hides.
-
If I was around in 1995, I would have to following this logic switch to Windows, because everything else has failed.

damn, it should read "if it was around" and that was quite certainly not meant as agreement with @fontana 's decision!
-
@fontana I prefer to think hasn't wildly succeeded yet, agree with https://identi.ca/notice/84334651
-
Free alternatives are starting to get somewhere. Diaspora is doing fairly well so far for instance, don't you think?
-
I can ask the guy who runs geraspora.de(and is also one of the diasp. devs) about setting up your own pod if you like
-
@bkuhn what does "AGPL committed entity" mean? Glance at http://podupti.me seems those that modify do comply (non-default git or tgz link).
-
@bkuhn Why do you use Github and not G+?
-
I am outta Facebook and on my way out of Google's services and Twitter as well.
-
@g0tt, I don't use #github regularly. It's true I have an account, mainly to just easily check stuff out. My stuff is on #gitorious.
-
Aren't you gone yet? Go! Out! You soil my beautiful software with your presence.

If there's anything more pathetic than a quitter, it's a slow, talkative quitter.

@satipera the context of your dent is an empty page...
-
Oh, right. There's a long private conversation there.
-
Thanks for context.
-
@evan oh right - all in the spirit of 'let's be less open' (which started with 0.9.7)
-
You mean, allowing private conversations? I think it's up to individual users to decide what they do with that.
-
You can take up your complaint with @fontana on Google+ if you think that a private convo is unwarranted.
-
@evan yes, but there used to be a spirit here of 'let's not do that' - less openness breeds less openness. I do object.
-
You might disagree but asking people to go to google if they disagree is just wrong.
-
@satipera I was just ignoring that bit - I think it's sufficiently known what I think about G+
-
He gets lots of pressure from people's demands. I can understand his reactions.
-
@satipera no harm is intended and I'm fairly sure none was conveyed.
-
You are right. We are all human and have our pressures.
-
@marjoleink I admire your passion.

I am now better identica educated.
-
@marjoleink why the increduility? CC doesn't require statusnet to distribute the data, it just regulates how they act when they do.
-
What do you mean?
-
@fontana, your banishment,if it exists at all, is purely self-imposed. It's basically the only reliable communication channel I have to you!
-
Actually, I banished him. But if you vouch for him, the banishment is rescinded. By the power of Greyskull, so say we all.
-
Banishment policy is always in flux. Calvinball rules.

Not a problem if he speaks ill. However, he won't be able to get more chips from the cashier's cage unless you co-sign.
-
@bkuhn, I can get my data out, so it seems identi.ca is #autonomo.us for users with less data.
-
I find it an unfortunate problem that to reach masses you need to be in the mass places. And then if you are there you contribute to those..
-
/me too mostly, but I am now considering leaving #gitorious ... missing issue tracker sucks (most likely for fedorahosted.org though)
