      @muungwana because changing a whole existing to use QML is expensive, and ppl have better things to do than chasing the latest bling

      Sure, other !KDE applications can use QtQuick (QML) and some do. For example http://ur1.ca/5gysl !Kontact Touch

      plasma is an early adopter of these kinds of technologies: it pushes more boundaries and needs more of what QML offers.

      but any application can use QML and we're seeing that start to happen (marble, calligra and kontact touch, e.g.).

      but using new technologies takes quite a while to happen: it can be a lot of work & there is little benefit for many desktop apps
