      Tried that; laptop said "Nope, Imma overheat & be a fire hazard". I opened it up for repair & now mainboard AC circuit died. Won't boot. :/

      Anyway, nice article! And I didn't know about vbetool before; that should be handy to turn off my netbook's display using DPMS.

      Arrgh ... Rough luck man. Had my own doubts but after running netbook for 18 months in a room with no AC it has proven to be a sturdy box.
