The !Android or !FOSS model is not broken, the manufacturer-carrier model is broken. Mobile platform should be standardized as PCs are.
- Matías Gabriel Ventura (emegeve) likes this.
- Nicolas Doualot and Franklin G. Mendoza repeated this.
-
!Android is a pure excuse for FOSS—I don't think it's fair to confound the two.
-
@samatjain You're right, what I meant was "The Androd or FOSS models are not broken". Standardized platforms will be good for both.
-
@jaimealsilva we could use standardized platforms for vehicles as well. do you see that happening? if an open hardware vehicle existed...
-
@ coyote i actually read about an open source automobile notorious too long ago
-
@coyo I know what happens, but sometimes you must refresh the obvious or stupid proposals like this one http://ur1.ca/70eti appear.
-
@coyo I don't understand. A standard software model for automobiles?
-
open hardware, @skreech2 which means the specifications are open, and also, i want all the parts standardized completely to fit together.
-
@coyo I don't see what's the wide benefit of that. There are already kit cars. How much is the current way holding you back?
