Soaking dried black beans in water overnight did not appear to soften them. Bringing them to a boil, & letting them simmer = good. !vegheads

@j1mc Sounds like you need a pressure cooker :-) Not sure why they're unpopular in the US... I can't imagine cooking legumes without one.
