Do we have an agreed-upon !FreeCulture Day date yet? @qco? @creativecommons?

I randomly propose Friday, August 10, 2012.

@jxself, my suggestion is that #FreeCulture Day coincide with #MLK Day—given what an important part Free Culture played in his work.
-
@rozzin seems more than a bit presumptuous to me. but if that route taken, Gandhi's birthday. don't need yet another US-oriented day.

@rozzin day after http://softwarefreedomday.org would make sense to me - Sunday 2012-09-16.

41 is the arbitrary prime, so I would suggest 10 Feb (or, better, the 41st day of the Chinese lunar calendar...)
-
Presumptuous, @mlinksva?
-
@rozzin yes. MLK day and US civil rights movement have their own meanings. Find attempting to ride on those a bit cringeworthy.

@mlinksva, you've misunderstood.
-
@rozzin I suspect I haven't misunderstood the potential for misunderstanding.

Though, @mlinksva, I'm not quite sure what route you think I'm taking that you'd suggest Gandhi's birthday....
-
@mlinksva @rozzin All the more reason to pick a random day; see http://ur1.ca/7an6x
-
@rozzin nonviolence, civil rights (broadly speaking), cultural freedom ... I'd enjoy hearing details on why you specifically use MLK day.
-
@mlinksva, I'm actually not using #MLK Day to celebrate #Free-Culture—it's the other way around.
-
@rozzin ok. I'd still be interested in details.
-
@rozzin is http://www.techdirt.com/articles/20120116/00402117411/how-ip-laws-have-locked-up-martin-luther-kings-brilliance.shtml a detail?
-
Release your work as BY-SA / CopyLeft and prevent your brilliance from being locked up! (A new slogan?)
drew Roberts and Balqis Thaahaveettil like this. -
@mlinksva, yes—and I was going to cite `Voice of Deliverance', also—nice to see http://ur1.ca/7j60t did ☺
-
@mlinksva, also cf. http://ur1.ca/7j67s — Luker's last paragraph seems to nicely sum things up.
-
@mlinksva, #MLK's reliance on `remix' is well-documented; without a strong !FreeCulture corpus..., where will that leave the *next* MLK?
-
@zotz, ` !Copyleft to keep your brilliance from being locked up' sounds a lot like something @qco said: http://ur1.ca/7j7qu
-
@rozzin The next MLK will be SOL

I have said semi similar things in the past too so I would not be surprised.
-
@mlinksva, `working on a strong !FreeCulture corpus to support the next #MLK' is the way I've found to `commorate via service' for MLK Day.
-
@mlinksva, my "FreeCulture Day coincident with MLK Day" suggestion was poorly-phrased/-capitalised;
-
@mlinksva, I was suggesting `a day to contribute to' rather than `a day to commemorate' Free Culture; "coincide" №3 per http://ur1.ca/7j9r3
-
I'd feel a little weird suggesting it if there was already a `Free Culture Day', though—might suggest finding another way to celebrate MLK.

-
@rozzin ah, that makes a lot more sense. I should have seen the word "coincide" in http://identi.ca/notice/88183223 and understood

Christmas?
