Looking for a good !xmpp client that supports #PGP or #OTR encryption for chatrooms/conferences, any suggestions? (except #Kopete )
-
#gajim is a nice choice
-
@dothidden but does it support encryption for multi user chat? many clients say they support PGP or OTR but it turns out it's only for 1to1
-
@cyberkiller what did u mean? except kopete? are u nuts? :-P
-
@dothidden I see that #Gajim also supports #PGP only for 1to1 chats, not conferences :-( http://ur1.ca/7dxsu
-
aren't there a patch for finch which adds support for #OTR?
-
unfortunately not, #gajim supports only u2u encryption. Sorry about that misunderstanding of your question
-
@cyberkiller Pidgin?
-
@cyberkiller Oh. Hmm I've never tried group OTR with it. Let me know if you find one I guess.
-
@smarks Already found - Kopete since at least kde 4.6 supports groupchat with otr but it has other problems so I'm looking 4 alternatives
-
@smarks I'm on a verge of developing my own simple secure groupchat app w/ my friends to use until PGP or OTR in muc gets widely implemented
-
@cyberkiller That'd be pretty cool. I wish empathy would just support OTR :(
-
@cyberkiller why don't you help add that feature to an existing client?
-
simple, secure, groupchat. choose two, or something... (srsly, secure groupchat is HARD)
-
@smarks personally I prefer PGP, anyway it's probably going to be just a small script, only a temporary solution
-
@jankusanagi because that would require real programming skills, not just piping strings to gpg and results to netcat or similar ;-)
-
@cyberkiller btw, did you try Swift? I don't know if what you want is supported, but it supports some "security labels" you might like
-
@jankusanagi can you supply a link? It's a too common name to find it on the net http://ur1.ca/7e5w4
-
@cyberkiller swift.im, easy to find by searching for "swift xmpp"
-
@cyberkiller isn't there a kde site where you can ask if they would like to implement features? aka brainstorm? :)
-
@zash @jankusanagi thx, maybe I'm just too tired today, anyway the "Security Labels" don't seem to have anything to do with encryption
-
@cyberkiller I don't think you did
-
@cyberkiller OTR is damn hard or close to impossible to do in MUC. what key would you use to encrypt the message to many people?..
-
@rysiek I know I once accidentally turned on OTR in Kopete in a MUC & used it with 1 friend, & other ppl in that muc recieved encrypted txt
-
@cyberkiller so they couldn't read it. way to MUC ;)
-
@rysiek cause the others didn't have a client with otr support :-P
-
@cyberkiller have you tried tkabber? Seems to support it (you might need plugins) http://tkabber.jabber.ru/files/doc/tkabber.html#s.features
-
@jankusanagi didn't try it yet, but I tried wija (linked on GPG website), but was so out of date that it didn't properly connect 2 xmpp serv
