!SCALE: @spot is starting his talk about selling Free Software. He'll tell us "How he stopped Worrying and Learned to Love the Source".

!SCALE: @spot says that "selling isn't Fair" & "People aren't logical". Good advice. Fundraising in non-profits is also not fair, too. :)

!SCALE: @spot: "Ppl who might buy Free Software don't care in the least about software freedom, even non-profits" & "Open Source" better :(

@bkuhn asks about "Software Freedom" phrase, @spot says that also doesn't work as customers stop listening at "free" !SCaLE #SCaLE10x

I wonder if I should turn around and coordinate better with @lufthans so we don't keep denting the same things from @spot's !SCALE talk.

!SCALE: I asked @spot if "software freedom" helps sell. He says they literally don't hear the "dom" syllable & think zero-cost. I'm dubious.

!SCALE: @spot has now mentioned more goofy corporate-only technologies in one paragraph than I've ever heard. I'm finding it !disturbing.

!SCALE: @spot says "no lock-in" is a huge part of Free Software sales pitch. But that *is* freedom. I don't get how that word is so scary!

In my modest #Drupal experience, freedom to customise & switch vendors sells, just not always until they've been burnt by proprietary CMSes.

@bkuhn I think buisnesses are allergic to revolutionary ideas in general, and freedom definitely is one.

@kevingranade @bkuhn BIG businesses can’t stand freedom because it = less central control; May describe many RHT “enterprise” customers.
