     How does it compare to Gravatar? In terms of users, and specifically the legality of it. I'm not looking to run my own instance.

     @jacobwb By default, it redirects to Gravatar automatically when it doesn't have an image for the hash you requested.

     @parlementum near as I can tell, Gravatar has no freedom issues; still, consumer choice is always desirable
