      @mvdan I'd say a combination of both irssi and bitlbee is pretty awesome.

      @mvdan !irssi AND !bitlbee -- #completesolution

      How would they complete each other? I thought they were about the same.

      @mvdan #irssi is an #irc cleint | #bitlbee is an #im addon to an irc client | therefore #completesolution

      @mvdan also note #bitlbee doesn't just work with #irssi, but other #irc clients like #weechat, #xchat _et al_

      Ah, cool. I thought bitlbee was a client on its own too. Thanks for clearing that up!

      @mvdan Specifically, bitlbee is an IRC server that presents various IM/µblog services via IRC interface (thus not tied to any one client).

      @reality you don't know what _et al_ means do you?

    • Daniel Martí Daniel Martí reality

      I thought et. al. meant something like "among others".

      @r7 I've always seen it used academically referring to e.g. "Dr Fish Basket, Mr Ball Fisher et al" meaning others but theirs primarily

      @r7 when used as opposed to et cetera

      @reality Dr. Fish Basket is a very reputable doctor, why would you tar him with the same brush as those charlatans? :(

      @reality it is an abbreviation of the #latin "et alia" meaning "and others"

    • r7 r7 r7

      @r7 etcetera means "and other things" incidentally
