do you need to be a member of the !sr group to repost spam? if so, that could be problematic
about a year ago from heybuddy-
@thistleweb yes, because here #modhelpers see your report. that's how we're doing it, ATM. http://status.net/wiki/Spam - why problematic?
-
@march so if I report a spammer as a non member, I'm wasting my time
-
@thistleweb if a #modhelper follows you it still could work, but with !SN you're maximising your effort, ATM ;) [spamhandling is PITA, ATM]
-
@thistleweb #pollspam? examples? regarding groups it's 1.) up to !groupadmins, 2.) hopefully someone tackling status.net/wiki/Blocking#bugs
-
@march @thistleweb oops. minimising effort / maximising outcome ...
-
@march new poll questions, then everyone who replies to it including complete strangers, to questions I have no interest in
-
@march some questions are valid, many are inane, and some folks don't like ANY polls, regardless of the question, yet can't block them
-
@thistleweb Poll spam is a serous Identica failing.
-
@satipera today I'd decided I'd seen enough "voted for" to think, screw it, I've abandoned groups until it's fixed
-
@thistleweb I have been unsubscribed for a while now from 3 of the most popular groups I used to rely on for news because of poll spam.
-
@march I added a potential solution at the bottom of this page http://ur1.ca/7yy4e
-
@satipera @thistleweb which groups is the #pollspam happening? i assume that the !admins have left and do not care for their groups anymore.
-
@thistleweb thanks for your thoughts! going to read it. sorry, had to protect pages because of spam. getting an account should work though.
-
@march I was a member of a group of linux / debian / ubuntu themed groups, I didn't take notes on where it was coming from
-
@thistleweb moved your good thoughts to http://status.net/wiki/Plugin_talk:Poll, and it's unprotected for the moment ;)
-
@thistleweb thank you! yes, those were very crowdy the last time i had a look.
-
@march it would also kill the "groups with no admins" stone that I never knew about at the time
-
@march you could also include a keyword checker, to spot if a poll has already been asked similar, instead of just blindly starting a new 1
