@fontana, backup has never worked for me from identica, from first day it rolled out. I'm still waiting for backup to load my own instance.
about a year ago from web-
@fontana have you deleted all your notices going back 9 months?!
-
!disturbing & reason to federate & fortunately LOCKSS
-
@fontana I am sad. Every interesting ~license 201[12] conversation now broken. @contextpatrol is !enraged

@bkuhn I agree. But mitigating this, there is a distributed backup among the lovely people who run their own instances...
-
@bkuhn ... and @fontana's #contextgenocide may be what it takes for me to join them.
-
Worst #contextgenocide since the great @mairin self-delete of 2011 http://ur1.ca/83lmb #sadinternethistorians
-
I see now that #deletionist is at least a #genus, for there are at least two #species.
-
@fontana surely at the very least they have deleting in common likeness. "own" trivial to dismiss, if one wish. but yes, closeness debatable
-
@mlinksva You could go use facebook =) I hear they hold on to every little scrap of data that gets into their greasy claws.
-
@fontana hey, but you also deleted part of *my* friends' timeline :-)
-
Backup works for less prolific users. I've got backups on MySQL; will see what I can do.
-
That'd be weird.
-
Also, it would be #disturbing if we kept @fontana's data for you against his wishes.

I agree, that's nice. Also: @bkuhn, you're clearly being trolled.
-
@evan, I agree that you should delete data upon users requests, but I would have a backup of all replies to me if I'd been able to backup.

@evan, also, isn't it a bug that deleting breaks context? Shouldn't it reassemble around the deleted dent?

@mlinksva, I'd be on my own instance already if I could *get my data out of identica*. I'm locked in! Not very autonomous.
-
@bkuhn I have a backup of your tweets from since I started following you. Could scrape more for you. http://ur1.ca/4om7…

@bkuhn I have a backup of your tweets from since I started following you. Could scrape more for you. sngpl.ma/u2H will have… sngpl.ma/t4GM0

May not be exactly what you are looking for but, @samatjain has this for backing up your account: http://url.jpope.org/ds
-
No, you would not have a backup of replies to you.
-
It does usually. If the deleted stuff is the root of a conversation, it's a little gamy.
-
@evan behavior seems different in threaded (only head)/non-threaded mode (wrong head) for http://ur1.ca/846ak cf http://ur1.ca/846ae
-
The ability is a good thing, people exercising it is not.
-
@fontana what assumption contained in your older dents did you realize untrue, akin to ∄ kazarticle? pls share breakthrough discovery!
-
@fontana you can use postgres or sqlite, php is unavoidable though
-
@fontana I just don't have server space for it :(
-
It is not, actually. But forget it.
-
@mvdan Some feel that #PHP is the web's equivalent of #VisualBasic, with a sprinkling of sql injection thrown in for good measure.
-
I'll have to start paying you.
-
@fontana hahaha, that sounds... fun. For you I mean. Not for normal people ;)
-
@bkuhn sounds like a ploy to keep you on identi.ca! #conspiracy #kidding
