I hate to say it, but HTTPS is practically useless when you can't trust the receiver.

It does sort of help the initial problem, but it's snake oil at a certain point. Facebook still sells people's data. How would HTTPS help?

I see your point. All I'm saying is that HTTPS doesn't guarantee privacy, at all. It depends entirely on how much you trust the recipient.

Well, this is why I am glad my bank uses a couple of extra layers of verification. Security is a process & if the NSA wants you, you're got.
